Barry Peck travelled up from Southampton to give us a wide ranging talk about Strick Line. Set up by Swansea business man Frank Clarke Strick in 1887 as one of his many business ventures the Company traded to the Persian Gulf. Barry served with Stricks for several years until its merger into the P & O General Cargo Division in April 1972. As he said ship’s histories are about people as well and we had insights and anecdotes about the crews some who served the Company for many decades along with interesting details about how the ships evolved incorporating the latest technologies.
